2022 Best Value Doctor’s Degree Colleges for Hospitality Management
Students have lots of options to chooose from today when trying to decide which college to attend. Our “Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Doctorate” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2019-2020, 17,830 people earned their degree in hospitality management, making the major the 61st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, hospitality management graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $33,271 and had an average of $21,829 in loans still to pay off.
At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 54 hospitality management graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Doctorate” ranking analyzed 12 colleges that offered a degree in hospitality management. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent hospitality management programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the hospitality management program at the school. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Iowa State University. The school came in at #1 for the Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Doctorate. Located in Ames, Iowa, this large public school awarded 8 degrees to qualified doctorate’s hospitality students in 2019-2020.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Texas A&M University - College Station. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Doctorate list. College Station, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctorate’s hospitality degrees to 4 students in 2019-2020.

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, this large public school handed out 6 degrees to qualified doctorate’s hospitality students in 2019-2020.
UNLV not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #7 on our “Best Hospitality Management Doctor’s Degree Schools” list. Average graduate tuition and fees at UNLV are $21,962, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
Out of the 12 schools in the Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, Purdue University - Main Campus landed the #5 spot on the list. Purdue is a large school located in West Lafayette, Indiana that handed out 5 doctorate’s hospitality degrees in 2019-2020.

University of Central Florida ranked #7 on this year’s Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Doctorate list. UCF is a large public school situated in Orlando, Florida. It awarded 10 doctorate’s hospitality degrees in 2019-2020.

Cornell University landed the #8 spot on the 2022 Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Doctorate ranking. Located in Ithaca, New York, this large private not-for-profit school handed out 2 degrees to qualified doctorate’s hospitality students in 2019-2020.
