In 2019-2020, 30,670 people earned their degree in electrical engineering, making the major the 31st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $70,098 and had an average of $23,581 in loans still to pay off.

At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 9,791 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $30-$48k” ranking, we looked at 214 colleges that offer a degree in electrical engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality electrical engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the electrical engineering program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.
