Industrial Engineering is the 86th most popular major in the country with 9,448 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, industrial engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $64,716 and had an average of $22,994 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 1,969 industrial engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $66,753 and $24,537 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 552 industrial engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $57,039 and $42,488 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value IE Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region” ranking analyzed 16 colleges that offered a degree in industrial engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality industrial engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

This fairly large school is located in Edwardsville, Illinois, and it awarded 15 masters’s IE degrees in 2019-2020.

Located in West Lafayette, Indiana, this large public school awarded 81 diplomas to qualified masters’s IE students in 2019-2020.

Out of the 16 schools in the Best Value IE Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Northern Illinois University landed the #4 spot on the list. Northern Illinois University is a public institution located in Dekalb, Illinois. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 58 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Lawrence Technological University ranked #7 on this year’s Best Value IE Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region list. Southfield, Michigan is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s IE degrees to 13 students in 2019-2020.
