Chemistry is the 44th most popular major in the country with 21,951 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, chemistry graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $38,704 and had an average of $22,279 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 1,803 chemistry graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,257 and $21,293 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 147 chemistry graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,078 and $37,227 respectively.
