Chemistry is the 44th most popular major in the country with 21,951 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, chemistry graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $38,704 and had an average of $22,279 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 2,244 chemistry graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Chemistry Schools for a Master’s” ranking analyzed 181 colleges that offered a degree in chemistry. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great chemistry programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
