Chemistry is the 44th most popular major in the country with 21,951 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, chemistry graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $38,704 and had an average of $22,279 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 5,141 chemistry graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,932 and $22,165 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 456 chemistry graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,950 and $43,286 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Chemistry Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region” ranking looked at 44 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in chemistry. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great chemistry programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
