In 2019-2020, 55,749 people earned their degree in general business/commerce, making the major the 13th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, general business/commerce graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $40,821 and had an average of $25,596 in loans still to pay off.

At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 24,866 general business/commerce graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value General Business Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Getting Aid” ranking, we looked at 297 colleges that offer a degree in general business/commerce. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general business/commerce programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the general business/commerce program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.
