2022 Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region
When it comes to choosing a college, students have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2019-2020, 29,936 people earned their degree in general education, making the major the 35th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, general education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $47,138 and had an average of $29,674 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 4,177 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $42,486 and $33,384 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 2,086 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,950 and $43,286 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region” ranking looked at 46 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general education. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general education programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the general education program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 46 schools in the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Liberty University landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, and it awarded 97 masters’s education degrees in 2019-2020.
In addition to being on our southeast region master’s degree education students list, Liberty University has also earned the #9 rank in our “Best General Education Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. Out of the 46 schools in the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Harding University landed the #2 spot on the list. Searcy, Arkansas is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s education degrees to 5 students in 2019-2020.
Harding also took the #10 spot in our “Best General Education Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at Harding University are $11,928, but some majors have different tuition rates.
Out of the 46 schools in the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Cumberland University landed the #3 spot on the list. Cumberland University is located in Lebanon, Tennessee and, has a small student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 13 masters’s education degrees to qualified students.

The school came in at #4 for the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region. American Military University is a private for-profit institution located in Charles Town, West Virginia. The school has a large population, and it awarded 31 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Union University. The school came in at #5 for the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region. Located in Jackson, Tennessee, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 26 degrees to qualified masters’s education students in 2019-2020.

Tusculum University landed the #6 spot on the 2022 Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region ranking.
