In 2019-2020, 4,889 people earned their degree in food, nutrition and related services, making the major the 131st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, food, nutrition and related services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $33,096 and had an average of $25,351 in loans still to pay off.

At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 3,040 food, nutrition and related services graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Nutrition Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking looked at 59 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in food, nutrition and related services. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality food, nutrition and related services programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the food, nutrition and related services program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. See our ranking methodology to learn more.
