In 2019-2020, 53,722 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 19th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $66,561 and had an average of $23,565 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 4,876 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $87,694 and $21,712 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 3,465 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,041 and $24,492 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value CompSci Schools for a Bachelor’s in the New England Region” ranking looked at 39 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in computer science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great computer science programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
