In 2019-2020, 30,670 people earned their degree in electrical engineering, making the major the 31st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $70,098 and had an average of $23,581 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Plains States region, there were 1,543 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,081 and $24,057 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 332 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,438 and $39,783 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s in the Plains States Region” ranking analyzed 16 colleges that offered a degree in electrical engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality electrical engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
