With 200,458 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, engineering is the 6th most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $64,888 and had an average of $23,564 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 40,264 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $61,596 and $23,814 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 28,258 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,277 and $25,415 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value Engineering Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking, we looked at 83 colleges that offer a degree in engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the engineering program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Worldwide. It ranked #1 on our 2022 Best Value Engineering Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region list. Embry-Riddle Worldwide is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Daytona Beach, Florida. It awarded 13 bachelors’s engineering degrees in 2019-2020.
