2022 Best Value Nursing Schools for a Doctorate
It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. Our “Best Value Nursing Schools for a Doctorate” ranking is part of that endeavor.
Nursing is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 3rd of all the majors we analyze. In 2019-2020, 313,362 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2017-2018, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $67,065 and had an average of $26,282 in loans still to pay off.
At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 10,033 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Nursing Schools for a Doctorate” ranking analyzed 343 colleges that offered a degree in nursing. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality nursing programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the nursing program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 343 schools in the Best Value Nursing Schools for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, Mount Marty University landed the #1 spot on the list. Mount Marty is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Yankton, South Dakota. It awarded 34 doctorate’s nursing degrees in 2019-2020.

Located in San Antonio, Texas, this small public school awarded 12 diplomas to qualified doctorate’s nursing students in 2019-2020.
In addition to being on this list, UT Health San Antonio is in the top on our “Best Nursing Doctor’s Degree Schools” list. It’s in the top 10% of all schools reviewed in that analysis. You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Grand Canyon University. The school came in at #3 for the Best Value Nursing Schools for a Doctorate. This large school is located in Phoenix, Arizona, and it awarded 288 doctorate’s nursing degrees in 2019-2020.

Creighton University did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Nursing Schools for a Doctorate ranking, coming in at #9. Omaha, Nebraska is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out doctorate’s nursing degrees to 72 students in 2019-2020.
