When many veterans attend a school, its faculty and staff tend to be more experienced at meeting the needs of former service members. The VA reports that there are 329 GI Bill® students at Hampton. As the school’s total enrollment is 3,254, around 10.1% of students are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. As a benchmark, the Student Veterans of America puts the share of veteran college students nationwide at three to four percent.
This number includes all chapters of the GI Bill®, such as Post-9/11, the Montgomery GI Bill®, the Reserve Education Assistance Program, and Veteran Readiness and Employment. Active-duty service members attending via Tuition Assistance are not counted, so the overall military population could be higher.

If you have specialized military training, Hampton may take that into consideration and grant college credit for it. Ask the admissions office how this applies to you. Credit for prior learning can shorten your time to a degree, so it’s worth asking about. Check with Hampton about credit for life experience, CLEP and similar exams, or other prior learning beyond military training.
