With 313,362 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, nursing is the 3rd most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $67,065 and had an average of $26,282 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 14,677 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $73,355 and $29,178 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 453 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $73,889 and $109,372 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Nursing Schools for a Doctorate in the New England Region” ranking looked at 20 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in nursing. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great nursing programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the nursing program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.
