Mathematics is the 32nd most popular major in the country with 31,080 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, mathematics graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,066 and had an average of $21,378 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 2,583 mathematics graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,079 and $22,062 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 179 mathematics graduates with average earnings and debt of $58,606 and $42,101 respectively.
