In 2019-2020, 17,830 people earned their degree in hospitality management, making the major the 61st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, hospitality management graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $33,271 and had an average of $21,829 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 1,955 hospitality management graduates with average earnings and debt of $34,317 and $21,565 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,041 hospitality management graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,896 and $23,899 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Hospitality Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southwest Region” ranking looked at 14 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in hospitality management. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great hospitality management programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the hospitality management program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

This large school is located in Houston, Texas, and it awarded 257 bachelors’s hospitality degrees in 2019-2020.

UH not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #2 on our “Best Hospitality Management Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list. The yearly cost to attend University of Houston is $12,838 for Southwest Region Bachelor’s Degree Hospitality students.

The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 86%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.

NAU is a large school located in Flagstaff, Arizona that handed out 209 bachelors’s hospitality degrees in 2019-2020.
