In 2019-2020, 2,802 people earned their degree in environmental engineering, making the major the 166th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, environmental engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $52,600 and had an average of $23,573 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 582 environmental engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,311 and $24,514 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 222 environmental engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,887 and $46,998 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Environmental Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking analyzed 19 colleges that offered a degree in environmental engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality environmental engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
