Why Diversity is Valuable
Diversity can be somewhat of a buzzword among students and university admissions officers alike . What does it mean to you?
Largely speaking, diversity is the word we use to describe a mixture of people and ideas, and the traditions, belief systems and cultures that come with them.
How does this translate to the university experience?
Diversity can be a huge benefit to students, as it not only exposes them to new ideas and ways of thinking, it prepares them for the varied workforce of tomorrow, as well as inspires innovation and creativity.
The university years provide a one of a kind opportunity for students to have direct exposure to other backgrounds and cultures. Students should look for a university administration that is not only encouraging diversity institutionally, but also fostering an atmosphere where students can exchange different ideas and perspectives in meaningful and positive ways.
