Wondering what the G.I. Bill® actually covers at CSI? Coverage is not unlimited and varies school to school, so the fine print is worth checking.
The table below compares the guaranteed Post-9/11 tuition benefit to the cost of attending CSI. Housing and book benefits are covered separately below.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Veteran tuition & fees | $7,490 |
| Guaranteed Post-9/11 tuition benefit | $7,490 |
| Tuition out of pocket | $0 |
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® tuition benefit is enough to cover the full tuition and fees at CSI.
Federal data does not indicate that CSI currently participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Check directly with the school, since participation can change year to year.
DoD Tuition Assistance pays up to $250 per credit hour for active-duty students; here is how the per-credit charge at CSI compares.
| Residency | Per-credit charge | Below $250 cap? |
|---|---|---|
| In-state | $362 | |
| Out-of-state | $362 |
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® also covers housing through a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA). The table compares the housing benefit to estimated living expenses at CSI.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Estimated living expenses (room & board, academic year) | $21,788 |
| Post-9/11 monthly housing allowance (MHA) | $3,729/mo |
| Housing benefit (academic year, ~8 months) | $29,832 |
| Estimated surplus in your pocket | $8,044 |
For most full-time students the housing allowance covers the cost of living off campus, with money left over. Your actual MHA depends on your rate of pursuit and the school’s location.
With a Post-9/11 book stipend of up to $1,000 per year, the estimated $1,500 in supply costs at CSI, leaving about $500 out of pocket.
These figures show the GI Bill® and DoD Tuition Assistance dollars veterans and service members actually used at CSI.
Approximately 61 veterans received Post-9/11 GI Bill® tuition payments of $329,150.
| Benefit | Recipients | Total disbursed | Average / recipient |
