How much of the cost at PVCC will the G.I. Bill® cover? GI Bill® benefits are limited and differ by school, so the specifics matter.
Here is how the Post-9/11 GI Bill® tuition benefit stacks up against the published cost of attending PVCC. Living-expense and book benefits are addressed in their own sections below.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Veteran tuition & fees | $4,928 |
| Guaranteed Post-9/11 tuition benefit | $4,928 |
| Tuition out of pocket | $0 |
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® tuition benefit is enough to cover the full tuition and fees at PVCC.
PVCC is not listed as a Yellow Ribbon participant in current federal reporting. Check directly with the school, since participation can change year to year.
For active-duty students, Tuition Assistance covers up to $250 per credit hour — the indicators below show whether PVCC is below that cap.
| Residency | Per-credit charge | Below $250 cap? |
|---|---|---|
| In-state | $5 | |
| Out-of-state | $31 |
On top of tuition, the Post-9/11 GI Bill® provides a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) for the months you are in school. Below, the academic-year housing benefit is set against the estimated living costs at PVCC.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Estimated living expenses (room & board, academic year) | $9,216 |
| Post-9/11 monthly housing allowance (MHA) | $2,337/mo |
| Housing benefit (academic year, ~8 months) | $18,696 |
| Estimated surplus in your pocket | $9,480 |
For most full-time students the housing allowance covers the cost of living off campus, with money left over. MHA amounts reflect the local housing rate for the school’s area.
Eligible veterans receive up to $1,000 a year for books and supplies; PVCC estimates these costs at about $1,800, leaving about $800 out of pocket.
These figures show the GI Bill® and DoD Tuition Assistance dollars veterans and service members actually used at PVCC.
Roughly 74 Post-9/11 recipients used tuition benefits worth $180,287.
| Benefit | Recipients | Total disbursed | Average / recipient |
|---|---|---|---|
| GI Bill® (all students) | 79 | $251,273 | $3,181 |
| GI Bill® — undergraduate | 79 | $251,273 | — |
| DoD Tuition Assistance (all) | 3 | $4,664 | $1,555 |
| DoD TA — undergraduate | 3 | $4,664 | — |
GI Bill® benefits follow the veteran; DoD Tuition Assistance is an active-duty benefit paid while serving.
