In 2020-2021, 741 people earned their degree in environmental design, making the major the 258th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, environmental design graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $36,901 and had an average of $21,331 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 130 environmental design graduates with average earnings and debt of $42,280 and $23,042 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Environment Design” ranking, we looked at 7 colleges that offer a degree in environmental design. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality environmental design programs as well as strong veteran support.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the environmental design program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend North Carolina State University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Environment Design. North Carolina State University is a large school located in Raleigh, North Carolina that handed out 36 ’s environment design degrees in 2020-2021.

NC State also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 1,102 of the 36,042 students enrolled at North Carolina State University were GI Bill® students, of which 493 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $5,886. To help with additional expenses, 27 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

With a freshman retention rate of 94%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

In addition to being on our southeast region vets studying environment design list, Virginia Tech has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 119 of the 37,024 students enrolled at Virginia Tech were GI Bill® students, of which 108 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Auburn not only placed well in this ranking. University of South Florida - Main Campus ranked #6 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Environment Design list. Tampa, Florida is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s environment design degrees to 4 students in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at USF Tampa, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 2,211 of the 50,626 students enrolled at USF Tampa were GI Bill® students, of which 1,241 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $4,943. In addition to receiving other benefits, 13 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.
