2022 Best Value Associate Degree Colleges for Accounting in the Southeast Region
It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. With 101,094 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, accounting is the 8th most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, accounting graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,557 and had an average of $26,381 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 24,469 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,343 and $28,520 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 1,976 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $31,631 and $18,547 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Accounting Schools for an Associate in the Southeast Region” ranking, we looked at 137 colleges that offer a degree in accounting. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent accounting programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the accounting program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 137 schools in the Best Value Accounting Schools for an Associate in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, American Public University System landed the #1 spot on the list. Charles Town, West Virginia is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associates’s accounting degrees to 47 students in 2019-2020.
In addition to being on our southeast region associate degree accounting students list, American Military University has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best Accounting Associate Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Lanier Technical College. The school came in at #2 for the Best Value Accounting Schools for an Associate in the Southeast Region. Oakwood, Georgia is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s accounting degrees to 33 students in 2019-2020.
Lanier Technical College also made our “Best Accounting Associate Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list, coming in at #2. The yearly cost to attend Lanier Technical College is $1,768 for southeast region associate degree accounting students.
Out of the 137 schools in the Best Value Accounting Schools for an Associate in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Central Georgia Technical College landed the #3 spot on the list. CGTC is a medium-sized school located in Warner Robins, Georgia that handed out 26 associates’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at CGTC, the school also landed the #14 spot in our “Best Accounting Associate Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. It costs about $1,954 for southeast region associate degree accounting students per year to attend Central Georgia Technical College.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Delgado Community College. The school came in at #4 for the Best Value Accounting Schools for an Associate in the Southeast Region. New Orleans, Louisiana is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s accounting degrees to 50 students in 2019-2020.

Central Carolina Community College came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Accounting Schools for an Associate in the Southeast Region ranking. Central Carolina Community College is located in Sanford, North Carolina and, has a medium-sized student population.
