With 101,094 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, accounting is the 8th most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, accounting graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,557 and had an average of $26,381 in loans still to pay off.

At the associate degree level specifically, there were 11,615 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,082 and $17,678 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Accounting Schools for an Associate” ranking looked at 553 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in accounting. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality accounting programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the accounting program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.
