For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for IT” ranking, we looked at 10 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information technology programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the information technology program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Loyola University Chicago. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for IT list. Loyola University Chicago is a private not-for-profit institution located in Chicago, Illinois. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 23 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Loyola Chicago not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 16,893 students enrolled at Loyola Chicago, 261 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. DePaul not only placed well in this ranking. Illinois Institute of Technology did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for IT ranking, coming in at #6. Located in Chicago, Illinois, this medium-sized private not-for-profit school awarded 156 diplomas to qualified ’s IT students in 2020-2021.
Illinois Tech not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 6,325 students enrolled at Illinois Tech, 83 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 52 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $14,905. On top of their other funding sources, 14 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

Northern Illinois University ranked #9 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for IT list. Located in Dekalb, Illinois, this fairly large public school handed out 76 diplomas to qualified ’s IT students in 2020-2021.
