It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. Information Science is the 58th most popular major in the country with 18,325 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $59,394 and had an average of $28,852 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 1,038 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $67,605 and $24,016 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 491 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $42,403 and $25,944 respectively.

Boston College is a fairly large school located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts that handed out 102 bachelors’s IS degrees in 2020-2021.
Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 93%. The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 0.9%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.
