It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for IS” ranking is part of that endeavor.
Information Science is the 58th most popular major in the country with 18,325 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $59,394 and had an average of $28,852 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,862 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $61,632 and $29,929 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for IS” ranking, we looked at 19 colleges that offer a degree in information science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information science programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the information science program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

College Station, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s IS degrees to 163 students in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our southwest region vets studying is list, University of Arizona has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 2,131 of the 45,601 students enrolled at University of Arizona were GI Bill® students, of which 1,478 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
