Carpentry is the 286th most popular major in the country with 3,273 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, carpentry graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $31,196 and had an average of $11,191 in loans still to pay off.
This year’s “Best Value Carpentry Schools” ranking looked at 11 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in carpentry. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent carpentry programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the carpentry program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Ivy Tech Community College. The school came in at #1 for the Best Value Carpentry Schools. Indianapolis, Indiana is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s carpentry degrees to 342 students in 2020-2021.
Ivy Tech Community College also took the #1 spot in our “Best Carpentry Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Ivy Tech Community College is $7,669 for Carpentry students.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Ranken Technical College. The school came in at #2 for the Best Value Carpentry Schools. Located in Saint Louis, Missouri, this small private not-for-profit school handed out 14 degrees to qualified ’s carpentry students in 2020-2021.
Ranken Technical College did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best Carpentry Schools” list. The estimated yearly cost for Ranken Technical College is $15,535 for carpentry students.
The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 4.7%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

Out of the 11 schools in the Best Value Carpentry Schools that were part of this year’s ranking, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology landed the #3 spot on the list. Located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, this small public school awarded 30 diplomas to qualified ’s carpentry students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, the school also landed the #3 spot in our “Best Carpentry Schools” ranking. It costs about $9,421 for Carpentry students per year to attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
