In 2020-2021, 36,792 people earned their degree in special education, making the major the 29th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, special education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,679 and had an average of $24,977 in loans still to pay off.
Across Massachusetts, there were 1,322 special education graduates with average earnings and debt of $49,720 and $26,721 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Massachusetts for Special Ed” ranking looked at 19 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in special education. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great special education programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
