In 2020-2021, 5,791 people earned their degree in teaching English or French, making the major the 140th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, teaching English or French graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,917 and had an average of $20,920 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 933 teaching English or French graduates with average earnings and debt of $34,605 and $21,497 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for English or French” ranking looked at 30 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in teaching English or French. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality teaching English or French programs as well as strong veteran support.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the teaching English or French program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.
