In 2020-2021, 6,736 people earned their degree in engineering-related fields, making the major the 112th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, engineering-related fields graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $77,404 and had an average of $26,200 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 247 engineering-related fields graduates with average earnings and debt of $100,464 and $0 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Engineering-Related Fields” ranking looked at 4 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in engineering-related fields. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality engineering-related fields programs as well as strong veteran support.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the engineering-related fields program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Massachusetts - Lowell. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Engineering-Related Fields list. University of Massachusetts - Lowell is a fairly large school located in Lowell, Massachusetts that handed out 40 ’s engineering-related fields degrees in 2020-2021.
UMass Lowell did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 18,150 students enrolled at University of Massachusetts - Lowell, 623 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 290 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,664. On top of their other funding sources, 29 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. University of Massachusetts - Lowell does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Located in Medford, Massachusetts, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 91 diplomas to qualified ’s engineering-related fields students in 2020-2021.
Tufts also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 12,219 students enrolled at Tufts, 1 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Located in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, this small public school handed out 25 diplomas to qualified ’s engineering-related fields students in 2020-2021.
Maritime also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 1,637 students enrolled at Maritime, 75 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 31 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,796. To help with additional expenses, 10 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

This small school is located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and it awarded 28 ’s engineering-related fields degrees in 2020-2021.
Western New England did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 3,673 students enrolled at Western New England University, 81 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 37 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $12,271. On top of their other funding sources, 13 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
