Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Engineering-Related Fields

When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Engineering-Related Fields” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.

In 2020-2021, 6,736 people earned their degree in engineering-related fields, making the major the 112th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, engineering-related fields graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $77,404 and had an average of $26,200 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 1,480 engineering-related fields graduates with average earnings and debt of $74,093 and $24,582 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Engineering-Related Fields” ranking, we looked at 16 colleges that offer a degree in engineering-related fields. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great engineering-related fields programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the engineering-related fields program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 16 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Engineering-Related Fields that were part of this year’s ranking, East Carolina University landed the #1 spot on the list. Greenville, North Carolina is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s engineering-related fields degrees to 44 students in 2020-2021.

This large school is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and it awarded 399 ’s engineering-related fields degrees in 2020-2021.

UARK also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 11 of the 27,562 students enrolled at UARK were GI Bill® students, of which 11 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Located in Melbourne, Florida, this medium-sized private not-for-profit school handed out 40 diplomas to qualified ’s engineering-related fields students in 2020-2021.

Florida Tech also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 1 of the 6,775 students enrolled at Florida Institute of Technology were GI Bill® students, of which 1 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Clemson University is a large public school situated in Clemson, South Carolina. It awarded 76 ’s engineering-related fields degrees in 2020-2021.

Clemson did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 26,406 students enrolled at Clemson, 922 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 429 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,920. To help with additional expenses, 15 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. Eastern Kentucky University is a fairly large school located in Richmond, Kentucky that handed out 35 ’s engineering-related fields degrees in 2020-2021.

Eastern not only placed well in this ranking. Florida International University ranked #6 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Engineering-Related Fields list. Florida International University is a public institution located in Miami, Florida. The school has a large population, and it awarded 124 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our southeast region vets studying engineering-related fields list, FIU has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 1,079 of the 58,836 students enrolled at Florida International University were GI Bill® students, of which 606 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,771. To help with additional expenses, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. UT Chattanooga is a fairly large public school situated in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It awarded 68 ’s engineering-related fields degrees in 2020-2021.

UNC Charlotte is a public institution located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The school has a large population, and it awarded 28 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

UNC Charlotte not only placed well in this ranking.
