In 2020-2021, 6,013 people earned their degree in mechanical engineering technology, making the major the 132nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, mechanical engineering technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $54,639 and had an average of $22,526 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 225 mechanical engineering technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $63,731 and $22,323 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for ME Tech” ranking, we looked at 6 colleges that offer a degree in mechanical engineering technology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality mechanical engineering technology programs as well as strong veteran support.

Top 6 Best Mechanical Engineering Technology Colleges for Veterans in the New England Region

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Maine. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for ME Tech. UMaine is a fairly large public school situated in Orono, Maine. It awarded 44 ’s ME tech degrees in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at UMaine, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 21 of the 11,741 students enrolled at University of Maine were GI Bill® students, of which 17 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $16,419. On top of their other funding sources, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.

Out of the 6 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for ME Tech that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Massachusetts - Lowell landed the #2 spot on the list. Lowell, Massachusetts is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s ME tech degrees to 11 students in 2020-2021.

UMass Lowell also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, UMass Lowell supports 18,150 students, and 623 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 290 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,664. On top of their other funding sources, 29 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

The school has a small population, and it awarded 28 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Out of that number, 80 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $3,577. New England Institute of Technology came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for ME Tech ranking. New England Institute of Technology is a small school located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island that handed out 43 ’s ME tech degrees in 2020-2021.

New England Tech also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 259 of the 2,031 students enrolled at New England Institute of Technology were GI Bill® students, of which 135 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $14,686. On top of their other funding sources, 34 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
