2022 Best Value Master’s Degree Colleges for Electrical Engineering

In 2019-2020, 29,892 people earned their degree in electrical engineering, making the major the 26th most popular in the United States.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 9,330 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s” ranking, we looked at 194 colleges that offer a degree in electrical engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great electrical engineering programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the electrical engineering program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Top 25 Best Value Master’s Degree Colleges for Electrical Engineering
Out of the 194 schools in the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, North Dakota State University - Main Campus landed the #1 spot on the list. This fairly large school is located in Fargo, North Dakota, and it awarded 10 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.

Out of the 194 schools in the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, The University of Texas at Austin landed the #2 spot on the list. Austin, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s EE degrees to 139 students in 2019-2020.
On top of its placing in this ranking, UT Austin also did well on our “Best Electrical Engineering Master’s Degree Schools” list. It’s ranked in the top 15% of all schools on our “Best Electrical Engineering Master’s Degree Schools” list. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Wisconsin - Madison. It ranked #3 on our 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s list. UW - Madison is located in Madison, Wisconsin and, has a large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 83 masters’s EE degrees to qualified students.
UW - Madison not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #16 on our “Best Electrical Engineering Master’s Degree Schools” list. Average graduate tuition and fees at University of Wisconsin - Madison are $25,523, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.

Out of the 194 schools in the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Arizona State University - Skysong landed the #4 spot on the list. ASU - Skysong is a public institution located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The school has a large population, and it awarded 24 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Texas A&M University - College Station landed the #7 spot on the 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. Texas A&M College Station is a large public school situated in College Station, Texas. It awarded 106 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.

University of Dayton landed the #8 spot on the 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. University of Dayton is a fairly large school located in Dayton, Ohio that handed out 27 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.
Average graduate tuition and fees at University of Dayton are $17,780, but some majors have different tuition rates.
Villanova University came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. Located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 12 degrees to qualified masters’s EE students in 2019-2020.
Villanova also claimed a top spot on our “Best Electrical Engineering Master’s Degree Schools” list. It’s in the top 20% of all schools in this category. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at Villanova University are $20,719.
With a ranking of #10, Michigan Technological University did quite well on the 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s list. This medium-sized school is located in Houghton, Michigan, and it awarded 36 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.

Minnesota State University - Mankato did quite well in the 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #11. University of North Dakota landed the #14 spot on the 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. Located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, this fairly large public school awarded 5 diplomas to qualified masters’s EE students in 2019-2020.

Purdue University - Main Campus came in at #17 in this year’s edition of the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. Purdue is a large public school situated in West Lafayette, Indiana. It awarded 82 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.

Purdue University Northwest ranked #18 on this year’s Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s list. This medium-sized school is located in Hammond, Indiana, and it awarded 22 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.

University of South Florida - Main Campus came in at #21 in this year’s edition of the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. Tampa, Florida is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s EE degrees to 95 students in 2019-2020.

Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus came in at #24 in this year’s edition of the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. This large school is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and it awarded 395 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.
Georgia Tech also took the #17 spot in our “Best Electrical Engineering Master’s Degree Schools” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at Georgia Tech are $31,334, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign came in at #25 in this year’s edition of the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s ranking. This large school is located in Champaign, Illinois, and it awarded 186 masters’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at UIUC, the school also landed the #24 spot in our “Best Electrical Engineering Master’s Degree Schools” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at UIUC are $30,083, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
