With 200,458 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, engineering is the 6th most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $64,888 and had an average of $23,564 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 13,723 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,635 and $25,116 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 787 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $73,889 and $109,372 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Engineering Schools for a Doctorate in the New England Region” ranking analyzed 14 colleges that offered a degree in engineering. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent engineering programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

This large school is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it awarded 68 doctorate’s engineering degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Massachusetts - Lowell.
