American Sign Language is the 199th most popular major in the country with 2,724 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,250 and had an average of $24,208 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 358 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $28,042 and $27,000 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value ASL Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking analyzed 5 colleges that offered a degree in American Sign Language. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great American Sign Language programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of North Florida. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Value ASL Schools in the Southeast Region list. University of North Florida is a public institution located in Jacksonville, Florida. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 35 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

UNF not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #2 on our “Best American Sign Language Schools in the Southeast Region” list. The yearly cost to attend UNF is $8,865 for Southeast Region ASL students.

The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 3.4%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.
