American Sign Language is the 199th most popular major in the country with 2,724 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,250 and had an average of $24,208 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Rocky Mountains region, there were 204 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,947 and $15,500 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 47 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,089 and $26,296 respectively.

ISU is located in Pocatello, Idaho and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 10 bachelors’s ASL degrees to qualified students.

Out of the 3 schools in the Schools for a Bachelor’s Highly Focused on ASL Major in the Rocky Mountains Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Northern Colorado landed the #2 spot on the list. University of Northern Colorado is a fairly large school located in Greeley, Colorado that handed out 8 bachelors’s ASL degrees in 2020-2021.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 4.4%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Utah Valley University. The school came in at #3 for the Schools for a Bachelor’s Highly Focused on ASL Major in the Rocky Mountains Region. UVU is a large public school situated in Orem, Utah. It awarded 29 bachelors’s ASL degrees in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.4% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
