In 2020-2021, 9,210 people earned their degree in health/medical prep programs, making the major the 104th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, health/medical prep programs graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $28,184 and had an average of $21,459 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,509 health/medical prep programs graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,534 and $18,141 respectively.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Tulsa Community College. The school came in at #2 for the Schools Highly Focused on Medical Prep Major in the Southwest Region. Tulsa Community College is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 351 ’s medical prep degrees to qualified students.

The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 2.2%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 91%.
Rose State College came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Schools Highly Focused on Medical Prep Major in the Southwest Region ranking. Midwest City, Oklahoma is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s medical prep degrees to 23 students in 2020-2021.

Arizona State University - Tempe ranked #16 on this year’s Schools Highly Focused on Medical Prep Major in the Southwest Region list. Arizona State University - Tempe is a large school located in Tempe, Arizona that handed out 336 ’s medical prep degrees in 2020-2021.
Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 86%. The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.5% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
Southern Nazarene University did quite well in the 2023 Schools Highly Focused on Medical Prep Major in the Southwest Region ranking, coming in at #17. SNU is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Bethany, Oklahoma. It awarded 10 ’s medical prep degrees in 2020-2021.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 4.2%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.
With a ranking of #18, Arizona State University - Skysong did quite well on the 2023 Schools Highly Focused on Medical Prep Major in the Southwest Region list. Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, this large public school handed out 182 degrees to qualified ’s medical prep students in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.5% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
