When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Law” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.

In 2020-2021, 36,216 people earned their degree in law, making the major the 28th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, law graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $64,466 and had an average of $19,500 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 2,937 law graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,837 and $19,500 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Law” ranking analyzed 12 colleges that offered a degree in law. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality law programs as well as strong veteran support.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the law program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Out of the 12 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Law that were part of this year’s ranking, Arizona State University - Tempe landed the #1 spot on the list. Arizona State University - Tempe is a large public school situated in Tempe, Arizona. It awarded 283 ’s law degrees in 2020-2021.

ASU - Tempe not only placed well in this ranking. In addition to being on our southwest region vets studying law list, UH has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, University of Houston supports 47,090 students, and 1,382 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 730 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,264. During this same period, 0 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. St. Mary’s also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 264 of the 3,458 students enrolled at St. Mary’s were GI Bill® students, of which 174 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. In addition to being on our southwest region vets studying law list, University of Arizona has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Among the 45,601 students enrolled at University of Arizona, 2,131 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Southern Methodist University ranked #8 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Law list. Southern Methodist University is located in Dallas, Texas and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 221 ’s law degrees to qualified students.

SMU not only placed well in this ranking.
