When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. One of our goals at College Factual is to give you as much information as we can - such as our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for Law” ranking - to help you make that decision.
In 2020-2021, 36,216 people earned their degree in law, making the major the 28th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, law graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $64,466 and had an average of $19,500 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Plains States region, there were 2,081 law graduates with average earnings and debt of $58,717 and $0 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for Law” ranking analyzed 14 colleges that offered a degree in law. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality law programs as well as strong veteran support.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the law program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Top 14 Best Law Colleges for Veterans in the Plains States Region
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for Law list. Minneapolis, Minnesota is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s law degrees to 227 students in 2020-2021.

KU is located in Lawrence, Kansas and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 98 ’s law degrees to qualified students.

University of Nebraska - Lincoln came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for Law ranking. UNL is located in Lincoln, Nebraska and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 113 ’s law degrees to qualified students.
