In 2020-2021, 11,545 people earned their degree in legal support services, making the major the 106th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, legal support services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $31,370 and had an average of $27,882 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 1,711 legal support services graduates with average earnings and debt of $32,152 and $23,936 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Legal Support Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking looked at 10 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in legal support services. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality legal support services programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Tarrant County College is located in Fort Worth, Texas and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 79 ’s legal support degrees to qualified students.

San Jacinto Community College landed the #7 spot on the 2024 Best Value Legal Support Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. San Jacinto College is a large school located in Pasadena, Texas that handed out 34 ’s legal support degrees in 2020-2021.

With a ranking of #8, University of Houston - Clear Lake did quite well on the 2024 Best Value Legal Support Schools in the Southwest Region list. This medium-sized school is located in Houston, Texas, and it awarded 18 ’s legal support degrees in 2020-2021.

UH Clear Lake also took the #4 spot in our “Best Legal Support Services Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking. The yearly cost to attend UH Clear Lake is $15,001 for southwest region legal support students.

The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.5% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
