Veterans have lots of options to chooose from today when trying to decide which college to attend. Library & Information Science is the 121st most popular major in the country with 5,950 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, library and information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $43,949 and had an average of $27,472 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 368 library and information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,275 and $22,333 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Library Science” ranking analyzed 2 colleges that offered a degree in library and information science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great library and information science programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Library Science
The following schools top our list of the Best “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Library Science”.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Simmons University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Library Science list. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, this medium-sized private not-for-profit school handed out 273 diplomas to qualified ’s library science students in 2020-2021.
Simmons not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 239 of the 6,263 students enrolled at Simmons University were GI Bill® students, of which 143 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $13,906. In addition to receiving other benefits, 20 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Out of the 2 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Library Science that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Rhode Island landed the #2 spot on the list. University of Rhode Island is a fairly large school located in Kingston, Rhode Island that handed out 46 ’s library science degrees in 2020-2021.
URI also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 17,649 students enrolled at University of Rhode Island, 381 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 187 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $10,022. During this same period, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
