In 2020-2021, 16,905 people earned their degree in public administration, making the major the 60th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, public administration graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $51,352 and had an average of $29,054 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 3,399 public administration graduates with average earnings and debt of $55,633 and $24,420 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Public Admin Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking looked at 40 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in public administration. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality public administration programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the public administration program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 40 schools in the Best Value Public Admin Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Villanova University landed the #1 spot on the list. Villanova is a private not-for-profit institution located in Villanova, Pennsylvania. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 114 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
