In 2019-2020, 2,551 people earned their degree in illustration, making the major the 255th most popular in the United States.

At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,067 illustration graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Illustration Schools for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 47 colleges that offered a degree in illustration. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent illustration programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the illustration program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 47 schools in the Best Value Illustration Schools for a Bachelor’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Brigham Young University - Provo landed the #1 spot on the list.
