We analyzed 10 colleges and universities across Utah to determine which ones have the best bachelor's degree programs. Our ranking methodology focuses on different objective factors to make this determination of the best schools. In the next few paragraphs, we'll talk a little about what we use in our analysis and why.
Higher Than Average Earnings
To determine the overall quality of a graduate school, one factor we look at is the average early-career salary of those receiving a bachelor's degree from the school. Recent students who earned a bachelor's degree in Utah entered the job market making an average of $41,652 while those in the top 10 schools on our list made an average of $43,481.

Taking Out Student Loans
Another factor that we look at to determine a school's ranking is the average debt load that students take on while they are working on their bachelor's degree.
When attending a school in Utah, bachelor's degree students accumulate an average of $24,483 in student debt before graduation.
We consider this number in conjunction with average post-graduation earnings to gauge the difficulty bachelor's recipients will have paying back their loans.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Utah. The school came in at #2 in Utah on this year’s best bachelor’s degree schools ranking. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the large public school handed out 5,437 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
The average salary of a graduate with a bachelor’s degree from U of U is $43,029 during the early years of their career. The average amount of student debt accumulated by bachelor’s students is $20,883.
The excellent bachelor’s degree programs at Western Governors University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best schools in Utah. Salt Lake City, Utah is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 26,612 students in 2020-2021.
Those who receive a bachelor’s degree from WGU go into careers with an average salary of $54,735 during the early years of their career. The average amount of student debt accumulated by bachelor’s students is $23,431.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Utah State University. It ranked #4 on our 2024 Best Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Utah list. USU is a public institution located in Logan, Utah. The school has a large population, and it awarded 4,341 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
During the early years of their career, bachelor’s degree graduates from USU make an average of $38,343 a year. Bachelor’s students leave the school with an average of $17,337 in student loans.

Dixie State University landed the #9 spot on the 2024 Best Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Utah ranking. Dixie State University is a fairly large public school located in Saint George, Utah that handed out 1,090 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
During the early years of their career, bachelor’s degree graduates from Dixie State College make an average of $36,603 a year. Bachelor’s students carry an average student debt load of about $20,063 after getting their degree.
Eagle Gate College - Murray ranked #10 on this year’s Best Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Utah list. Eagle Gate College - Murray is located in Murray, Utah and has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 51 bachelor’s degrees to qualified graduate students.
During the early years of their career, bachelor’s degree graduates from Eagle Gate College - Murray make an average of $55,617 a year. The average amount of student debt accumulated by bachelor’s students is $52,291.
