A large number of veterans attending a college means the college and faculty are more used to supporting and accommodating the needs of those with prior military experience. According to the VA, there are 43 GI Bill® students at Calvin. Since the total enrollment at the school is 2,921, approximately 1.5% of students are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. For perspective, about three to four percent of college students in the U.S. are veterans, according to the Student Veterans of America.
Note, this figure includes all chapters of the GI Bill® program (e.g., Post-9/11, Montgomery GI Bill®, Reserve Education Assistance Program, and Veteran Readiness and Employment). Active-duty military using Tuition Assistance are excluded, so the actual military population may be bigger.
