Wondering what the G.I. Bill® actually covers at FRCC? The answer depends on the school — benefits are capped and the details vary, so it pays to do your research.
Below is the gap between the Post-9/11 tuition benefit and the cost at FRCC. See the living-expense and book sections below for those benefits.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Veteran tuition & fees | $4,740 |
| Guaranteed Post-9/11 tuition benefit | $4,740 |
| Tuition out of pocket | $0 |
Because tuition is at or below the annual Post-9/11 benefit, the GI Bill® covers it in full at FRCC.
FRCC is not listed as a Yellow Ribbon participant in current federal reporting. If you need benefits beyond the Post-9/11 cap, ask the schools veteran services office whether any programs participate.
For active-duty students, Tuition Assistance covers up to $250 per credit hour — the indicators below show whether FRCC is below that cap.
| Residency | Per-credit charge | Below $250 cap? |
|---|---|---|
| In-state | $206 | |
| Out-of-state | $206 |
On top of tuition, the Post-9/11 GI Bill® provides a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) for the months you are in school. The table compares the housing benefit to estimated living expenses at FRCC.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Estimated living expenses (room & board, academic year) | $14,679 |
| Post-9/11 monthly housing allowance (MHA) | $2,982/mo |
| Housing benefit (academic year, ~8 months) | $23,856 |
| Estimated surplus in your pocket | $9,177 |
For most full-time students the housing allowance covers the cost of living off campus, with money left over. The MHA is based on the school’s ZIP code and is paid at the full-time rate for resident students.
Eligible veterans receive up to $1,000 a year for books and supplies; FRCC estimates these costs at about $1,460, leaving about $460 out of pocket.
These figures show the GI Bill® and DoD Tuition Assistance dollars veterans and service members actually used at FRCC.
In the latest reporting year, about 197 students drew Post-9/11 GI Bill® tuition benefits totaling $650,391.
| Benefit | Recipients | Total disbursed | Average / recipient |
|---|---|---|---|
| GI Bill® (all students) | 568 | $1,364,550 | $2,402 |
| GI Bill® — undergraduate | 568 | $1,364,550 | — |
| DoD Tuition Assistance (all) | 21 | $30,600 | $1,457 |
| DoD TA — undergraduate | 21 | $30,600 | — |
GI Bill® benefits follow the veteran; DoD Tuition Assistance is an active-duty benefit paid while serving.
