When many veterans attend a school, its faculty and staff tend to be more experienced at meeting the needs of former service members. VA figures show 22 GI Bill® students at Transylvania. Because the school enrolls 1,014, approximately 2.2% of students are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. As a benchmark, the Student Veterans of America puts the share of veteran college students nationwide at three to four percent.
This number includes all chapters of the GI Bill®, such as Post-9/11, the Montgomery GI Bill®, the Reserve Education Assistance Program, and Veteran Readiness and Employment. Active-duty service members attending via Tuition Assistance are not counted, so the overall military population could be higher.
