Info in This Veterans Report on VSCC:
A large number of veterans attending a college means the college and faculty are more used to supporting and accommodating the needs of those with prior military experience. Based on VA records, there are 263 GI Bill® students at VSCC. Since the total enrollment at the school is 5,139, approximately 5.1% of those enrolled are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. By comparison, the Student Veterans of America reports that three to four percent of college students nationwide are veterans.
All GI Bill® chapters are included here: Post-9/11, Montgomery, Reserve Education Assistance, and Veteran Readiness and Employment. Active-duty military using Tuition Assistance are excluded, so the actual military population may be bigger. Veteran students account for 0.4% of all students at VSCC, according to U.S. Department of Education figures.
How a school’s veterans persist, transfer, and graduate is a useful signal of how well it serves them.
| Outcome | Veterans | All Students |
|---|---|---|
| Graduation rate | 13.8% | 23.4% |
| Transfer-out rate | 37.9% | — |
Rates are reported via the VA’s GI Bill® Comparison Tool.
