In 2020-2021, 56,042 people earned their degree in general business/commerce, making the major the 16th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general business/commerce graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $43,399 and had an average of $26,389 in loans still to pay off.
Across New Jersey, there were 682 general business/commerce graduates with average earnings and debt of $29,916 and $22,311 respectively.
This year’s “Most Well Attended General Business Major in New Jersey” ranking looked at 11 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general business/commerce. To top this list, a school must have a successful general business/commerce program that graduates more students in the field than other colleges that offer the same major.

Out of the 11 schools in the Most Well Attended General Business Major in New Jersey that were part of this year’s ranking, Passaic County Community College landed the #3 spot on the list. Passaic County Community College is a medium-sized public school situated in Paterson, New Jersey. It awarded 89 ’s general business degrees in 2020-2021.

Mercer County Community College is located in West Windsor, New Jersey and, has a medium-sized student population. Ramapo College of New Jersey landed the #6 spot on the 2023 Most Well Attended General Business Major in New Jersey ranking. Ramapo College of New Jersey is located in Mahwah, New Jersey and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 26 ’s general business degrees to qualified students.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.2% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools.
